HOUSTON — The Aldine Independent School District Board of Trustees approved a package of legal, personnel and administrative actions during its March 18, 2025 business meeting.
Trustees voted to enter a contingent-fee legal-services arrangement for pending youth social-media litigation, approved final and proposed terminations for four employees, authorized water and sewer easements with a Harris County municipal utility district and adopted several policy revisions and consent-agenda items.
The contingent-fee agreements name three law firms — Thompson & Horton LLP; Allen & Bonin, PC; and O'Hanlon, DeMeara & Castillo, PC — to represent the district in litigation concerning youth social-media usage. The board also adopted a related resolution that the motion says includes findings required by Texas Government Code 2254, Subchapter C, for contingent-fee contracts.
On personnel matters discussed in executive session, trustees approved a final termination for a probationary teacher at Nimitz High School and approved final/proposed terminations or proposed terminations for teachers at McGrail Primary School, Shotwell Middle School and Bynes Primary School. The board also approved a separate resolution authorizing two waterline easements (25 feet and 15 feet) and two 15-foot sanitary sewer easements at West Greens Road and Spears Gears Road with a Harris County municipal utility district.
Board members also approved revisions to local policies listed in the agenda packet (local update 124 covering CAA, CDACY, DH, EHB, EHBB, EFG and GKA), revisions to DEE (compensation and benefits/expense reimbursement), and the annual review of CDA (investment policy). At the start of the business portion, the board approved minutes from its Feb. 25, 2025 meetings and later approved the consent agenda, which included multiple listed consent items.
Votes were taken by roll call and passed on each motion. For items on the consent agenda, the board approved items C-1, E-1 through E-3, H-1 through H-4 and M-1 through M-3. The meeting closed after routine adjournment.

Why it matters: The board’s approval to hire contingent-fee outside counsel sets the district’s legal posture in a pending area of litigation involving student social-media use. Multiple personnel termination votes reflect personnel actions discussed in executive session; the easement approvals clear the way for utility infrastructure work that touches district property; and policy updates adjust internal governance and financial procedures. Each action above was approved by roll call or voice vote as recorded in the meeting minutes.
Ending: The board addressed other business, recognitions and public comment during the March 18 meeting; separate briefings at the same meeting covered student arts awards, district reading initiatives and community comments on special-education accommodations and the debate program.
