Princeton council approves minutes, invoices and several ordinances; grants signature authority and a special-use permit

The Princeton City Council approved routine business and several measures during its March 7 meeting, including the minutes from its previous meeting, the payment of invoices totaling $1,148,734.36, two ordinances on second and final reading, a resolution granting signature authority and a special-use permit for a property at 27 E. Railroad Ave.
The council unanimously approved the minutes of the regular council meeting of March 3, 2025, and approved invoices across four departments: Department of Accounts and Finances ($86,615.02); Streets and Public Improvements ($86,454.97); Public Safety ($198,203.82); and Public Property and Utilities ($777,460.55), for a grand total of $1,148,734.36. The clerk reported all council members had reviewed the invoices before the roll call.
On second and final reading the council adopted ordinance O-25-007 concerning alley maintenance and ordinance O-25-008 authorizing the sale of personal property no longer necessary to the city; both ordinances passed on unanimous roll calls. The council also approved resolution R-25-008, described in the meeting as granting signature authority, on a unanimous vote.
The council approved a special-use permit for J Rain LLC to allow a garage on property at 27 E. Railroad Ave. to be used as a mini-warehouse; planning commission approval was noted and the permit passed on a unanimous roll call.
City Manager's announcements included an invitation to bid for resurfacing the Princeton Police Department vehicle bay floor: the work covers approximately 5,950 square feet, requires prevailing wages and will include grinding, concrete repairs and an epoxy flake topcoat; sealed bids are due at City Hall no later than 10 a.m. on April 3. The council also acknowledged the swearing-in of Tony Machuchuk (reported as Tony Machuchuk in the meeting) as a new full-time firefighter and received a proclamation recognizing National Vietnam War Veterans Week, designated in the proclamation as March 24–29, 2025.
Before adjourning to an executive session to discuss personnel matters under applicable statutes, the council announced its next regular meeting for 6 p.m. Monday, April 7, 2025. All formal votes reported in the meeting were unanimous "aye" votes recorded by roll call.
