The Island Planning Commission voted unanimously on Feb. 25 to approve TA‑24‑1, a county‑initiated text amendment that replaces references to the Community Development Department and Community Development Director in the Glynn County Zoning Ordinance and Subdivision Regulations with Planning and Zoning Department and Planning and Zoning Director.
John Gentry, assistant county manager, explained the change is administrative after a departmental reorganization that created separate Planning and Zoning and Building Permits and Inspections departments. He described the amendment as housekeeping language to align code references with the county’s new organizational structure. Commissioners characterized the item as minor administrative corrections and approved the amendment without further conditions.
County staff said there will be subsequent cleanups to other code sections to reflect the reorganization, and those edits will be processed through the usual ordinance amendment workflow.
The amendment was recorded as approved by voice vote and forwarded per the county’s amendment process.
