Interim County Engineer Ed Bartolz told the Board of Supervisors Wednesday that county staff recommend a three‑year, $65,532 contract with Schneider Geospatial to implement the GeoPermits application for electronic secondary‑roads permitting.
“This is a follow‑up to a direction from the board that we're trying to make electronic permitting a reality here at Johnson County,” Ed Bartolz said. He told the board GeoPermits supports linear features such as routes for oversized or overweight permits and special events, which existing systems struggled to handle.
Bartolz said the software would allow applicants to trace routes, submit payments electronically through Schneider’s payment system, and reduce staff time handling manual entries. He said other counties use the product and that the county consulted IT and the County Attorney’s Office on the contract.
Board members raised no objection to moving the contract toward formal approval. The chair directed staff to place the contract on next week’s formal meeting agenda for action.
