Glynn County adopts resolutions on commissioner pay, roadway improvements and e-notarization; public comment on state tax bill

The Glynn County Board of Commissioners on Feb. 20 adopted multiple resolutions asking the county’s legislative delegation to pursue local or state action and took public comment on a related state bill.

Commissioners voted to ask the Glynn County legislative delegation to sponsor local legislation to set and adjust the county commissioners’ base salaries. County staff read an updated draft resolution into the record that specifies fixed annual salaries and monthly expense allowances: $28,000 annually and $600 per month for the chair; $27,000 annually and $600 per month for the vice chair; and $26,000 annually and a $550 per month expense allowance for each other commissioner. The staff memorandum included a note that the change would not preclude state-awarded cost-of-living adjustments (COLAs), training supplements, or longevity increases already allowed by law. The commission moved and approved the resolution at the meeting; one commissioner explained the increase would update compensation last changed in 2002 to reflect population growth since then.
