Council adopts notice of intent to withdraw from ICRMA to explore other insurance options

On March 18 the El Segundo City Council adopted a resolution authorizing the city manager to submit a notice of intent to withdraw membership from the Independent Cities Risk Management Authority (ICRMA) to allow the city to explore other insurance options.
Human Resources Director Rebecca Reddick told the council that ICRMA is a risk-sharing pool for cities. Submitting the notice at this time preserves the city’s ability to explore joining a different pool or purchasing insurance directly. Reddick said that if the city decides to remain in ICRMA, the pool must be notified by Dec. 1, 2025.
The council adopted the resolution; the transcript does not include a vote tally. Staff indicated the notice is procedural and intended to preserve options while the city evaluates alternatives.
