Presenters said the system will continuously monitor boiler water quality, maintain solids and conductivity parameters and eliminate the need for manual blowdown by staff. The county expects the automation to improve plant efficiency and reduce water consumption and energy loss.
Grafredo said parts have been ordered and staff are preparing for installation, which he estimated would begin within the next month. Grafredo said the change eliminates a long-standing manual process: “The staff been doing that for forever,” a committee member observed, and Grafredo agreed the new technology should be more efficient.
