Cookeville City Council on March 6 authorized the city manager to execute addendum No. 1 to the engineering contract with Reagan Smith for Phase 2 of the East Spring Street/US 70 North multimodal sidewalk project, a lump-sum fee not to exceed $3,000 to rebid the work.
The addendum was presented by Mr. Ward, who told the council that bids for the project had been rejected at the Feb. 6 council meeting and that this engineering work is to rebid the project. Ward said the addendum is a "lump sum fee not to exceed $3,000" and that the cost is eligible for reimbursement under the TDOT multimodal grant referenced in the meeting materials.
The item was moved and seconded on the council floor, with Vice Mayor Eldridge making the motion and Councilman Gilbert seconding. The council voted unanimously; the clerk recorded five yes votes and the motion carried.
Why it matters: rebidding follows the council's earlier rejection of bids and keeps the project moving toward construction with grant funding expected to cover eligible costs. Ward offered to answer questions from council members at the meeting but no substantive amendment to the addendum was made.
The council vote completed the authorization for staff to proceed with the rebid and for the city manager to sign the contract addendum.
