County staff presented ordinance housekeeping to align code language with a 2023 reorganization that redistributed duties previously assigned to the Community Development director.
What was proposed: Assistant County Manager John Gentry said staff will delete references to ‘‘community development director’’ in the planning, subdivision and related ordinances and replace them with the appropriate new titles: Planning and Zoning Director, County Engineer, Chief Building Official or Licensing and Compliance as applicable. Staff explained the change reflects internal department reorganization and the creation of separate divisions for building inspections, permitting and licensing.
Procedure and timing: Because these are ordinance amendments, staff will notice the changes to the planning commissions and return with commission recommendations to the Board of Commissioners. Staff said they expected the planning-commission notices soon and tentatively targeted April–May for board consideration.
Ending note: Commissioners asked clarifying questions about the role changes and staffing; no vote was held at the work session and staff will follow the normal notice and review process.
