The Bonner County Ambulance Service District approved a staffing reclassification that consolidates a part-time administrative assistant job description with an EMT Basic position to create a single, flexible role.
Deputy Chief Adam Brinkmeyer told commissioners the two existing line items โ an administrative assistant and an EMT Basic โ were paying more than needed for the current duties. Consolidating the positions and adjusting the pay line would free roughly $8,000 in the part-time budget to add personnel, he said. "We'd be reassigning a staff member to a single specific position to fulfill the duties of that position and therefore free up a position," Brinkmeyer said.
Board members asked for clarification on how duties had been performed; Brinkmeyer said the role had been performed primarily as administrative work with occasional ambulance availability and that combining the descriptions would preserve that flexibility.
The board moved and seconded the change and approved it by vote. The action directs staff to update job descriptions and to seek qualified candidates to backfill the newly freed part-time EMT role.
No public comment opposing the change was recorded during the meeting.
