Board approves $2.15 million bid for Atlanta Speedway Airport runway rehabilitation; GDOT grant covers part

Henry County commissioners voted to award a construction contract for runway pavement rehabilitation at Atlanta Speedway Airport on Tuesday, approving the low bid from CW Matthews and related engineering and GDOT agreements.

County staff said the Georgia Department of Transportation has committed $3,000,000 in limited‑participation grant funds for the airport program; the GDOT contract will be executed electronically after board approval. Commissioners approved the resolution and the contracts by motion, with no recorded roll‑call in the minutes.

The presenter noted the bid came in lower than the committed GDOT amount, leaving potential funds to apply to other airport projects. There was no public comment and the board voted to approve the award and related agreements.
