Votes at a glance: council accepts election results; mayor, vice mayor and district officers chosen

The Town of Loxahatchee Groves council took several formal actions during its March 18 meeting.

Election results: Council accepted the official municipal election results from March 11, 2025. The town clerk reported vote counts for council seat 4 and for Loxahatchee Groves Question 1. A motion to accept the official election results passed 4 to 0 on the record.

Mayor and vice mayor: Council considered and voted on resolutions electing the mayor and vice mayor for the 2025–2026 term (Resolution Nos. 2025-14 and 2025-15 were read into the record). The motion to elect Anita Kane as mayor carried 4 to 1 on the record. The motion to keep Mark Herzog as vice mayor passed 5 to 0.

Oaths and appointments: Council administered oaths to newly seated council members Lisa L. Ramey (seat 2) and Paul T. Coleman II (seat 4). The council also moved to add nominations for town board and committee appointments to the agenda; staff will vet nominees and return with a resolution for confirmation on April 1.

Water Control District: At the district portion of the meeting the council nominated and approved leadership for the Water Control District: Marge (Manilla) was nominated and approved as chair (vote recorded 5–0) and Mark (Herzog) was approved as treasurer (vote recorded 5–0); the schedule and related consent calendar items passed on consent with the correction noted (Wednesday, September 17).

Consent items and minutes: The council approved the agenda as amended and approved minutes and schedule corrections noted during consent; the motion to approve consent items passed unanimously where a roll call was recorded.

Ending: Staff will place committee nominations for formal appointment on the April 1 agenda after vetting by the clerk and town attorney.
