The Eden Prairie City Council on March 18 approved several consent and action items, including acceptance of donations, a naming-rights agreement for the Aquatic Center, a city resolution supporting the Mayor’s Water Challenge for Conservation and payment of claims.
Naming-rights donation: The council accepted a $4,000 donation from Bear Path Golf and Country Club in exchange for naming rights for a starting block at the Eden Prairie Aquatic Center. Staff said the block will be labeled “Bear Path Golf and Country Club Swim and Dive Team”; staff also said it was the final available starting block at the facility. A council member moved to adopt a resolution accepting the donation and to authorize execution of a naming-rights agreement; the motion passed by voice vote.
Parks and recreation donations: Council adopted a resolution accepting first-quarter 2025 parks and recreation donations totaling $7,250. Staff read a list of donors and amounts, ranging from $50 gifts up to a $2,500 donation from the Hopkins VFW; listed donors included the Eden Prairie Crime Prevention Fund, Richard Hare, Elam Shores, Summit Place, Bright Star Care, Planet Fitness, Mark Coda, Scott Olson, Moments Hospice, Wild Trends, Landmark Tours and Hopkins VFW.
Mayor’s Water Challenge for Conservation: Council passed a resolution supporting the National Mayor’s Water Challenge and encouraged residents to sign mywaterpledge.com during April. Staff said the contest is based on the count of pledge participants and that prizes previously have benefited winning cities.
Routine approvals: The council approved the meeting agenda, minutes from March 4 (workshop and regular meeting), and the consent calendar (items A through V) by unanimous voice votes.
Payment of claims: A motion to approve payment of claims passed on a roll-call vote; the transcript recorded Council member Freyberg (aye), Council member Narayan (aye), Council member Toomey (aye) and Mayor Case (aye).
All the above motions were routine or ceremonial; where staff indicated follow-up, it involved execution of agreements or routine administrative steps.
