Commissioners report on NACO trip, dispatch center, municipal bond concerns and local grants

Commissioners began Wednesday’s meeting with updates from external boards and conferences, reporting on regional emergency dispatch patterns, a National Association of Counties conference, concerns about municipal bond proposals in Congress, and new local grants for hate-crime tracking.

Commissioner Mejia reported the Fire Commissioners Association received an update from TCOM Director Wendy Hill describing staffing status and shifts in call types. The association noted an overall decline in total 9-1-1 call volume year-to-year, but an increase in law- and fire-related calls and a shift from advanced life support calls to basic life support calls.
