The Local Planning Committee for Nelson County Schools elected Adam Dawson as chair and selected Kim Hogan as vice chair during its March 19 meeting, and adopted a tentative meeting calendar for Wednesday evenings through the DFP process.
Adam Dawson received the most votes in the chair balloting and the facilitator announced he would serve as chair. The committee then nominated and voted for vice chair; the facilitator announced the selected vice chair following the roll-call process. After officers were chosen, the LPC approved the proposed meeting calendar (Wednesdays) with a motion from Ashley Simpson and a second from Tina Long.
The facilitator conducted open nominations and then a roll-call vote to satisfy the LPC’s procedural requirements. Members also confirmed that quorum for LPC meetings is 10 people and that public forums will be advertised in local newspapers 10–15 days in advance to meet statutory notice requirements.
Chair Adam Dawson thanked members as the meeting concluded: “I just wanna take a minute to thank everybody for being here and being willing to be involved,” he said, and then called for adjournment. A motion to adjourn carried by voice vote.
Votes at a glance - Chair election: Adam Dawson — elected (open vote count announced: 13 for Dawson; other nominees received fewer votes). - Vice chair election: Kim Hogan — selected (open vote counts announced during meeting: Kim Hogan 12; other nominees fewer votes). - Meeting calendar: Approved (motion: Ashley Simpson; second: Tina Long; outcome: approved by voice vote). - Adjournment: Approved by voice vote.
Notes: The meeting used both open voting and a roll-call tally to document officer selection as required by the LPC process; individual roll-call responses are recorded in the meeting transcript. Staff will distribute detailed meeting materials and requested data before the next scheduled LPC meeting to support members’ review.
