Judge Boyd Reinstates Bond for Ruben Maldonado After Missed Appearance

Judge Stephanie Boyd recalled a bond forfeiture and reinstated a $7,500 bond for Ruben Maldonado Jr. after the defendant failed to appear for a scheduled court date and later arrived.

The action matters because it returned a defendant to bond status after a missed appearance and set a future plea-deadline date that advances the case toward resolution.

At the hearing, Assistant District Attorney Megan Galloway announced the state’s presence; defense attorney Renee Munoz informed the court that the bond company was willing to continue on the bond and requested that the bond be reinstated to $7,500 and the warrant recalled. Munoz said her client understood the court’s communication expectation and that the bond company remained willing to cover the bond.

Judge Boyd granted the request to recall the warrant and reinstate the $7,500 bond. The court set a plea-deadline reset for April 15 and advised Maldonado of the importance of communicating scheduling conflicts to counsel and the court. The judge told counsel the clerk would enter a reset form and noted the state had no objection to recalling the warrant.

The court instructed that Maldonado would be released from custody by jail staff (timing beyond the court’s control) and warned that future failures to notify the court of conflicts could result in different treatment.
