Kenmore resident flags sidewalk surveyors on 180th Avenue; asks commission to consider parking impacts

During public comment March 18, Amir Amadi, a Kenmore resident, told the Planning Commission he had seen surveyors on 180th Avenue NE and learned they were working on a sidewalk project for the block between 60th and 63rd. Amadi said on-street parking on the south side of 180th is heavily used by two condominium complexes and nearby businesses and asked the commission to have the city evaluate whether the sidewalk project would eliminate those spaces.
Amadi said he reviewed the city's project page, contacted the engineer and was told the plans were at about 30% design and that the engineer could not confirm whether on-street parking would be affected. "A few days ago, I noticed some surveyors... they informed me it's regarding a project for sidewalks on 180 First," Amadi told the commission. He asked commissioners to consider the project and ensure parking impacts are assessed.
City staff responded that the sidewalk work is part of an ongoing city project and not part of the Planning Commission's work program; staff asked Amadi to leave contact information so the city engineer could follow up. Chair Banashinsky and staff confirmed they would pass the contact details to the engineer and noted Mayor Herbig had requested the same information at a recent City Council meeting.
