Councilman Bridal asked staff for the city’s estimated long-term liabilities tied to several demo–rebuild items on the consent agenda. Perla Tavera, director of economic development, tourism and planning, read the dollar figures associated with each resolution and cautioned that the amounts depend on current property tax and assessed values.
Tavera gave the numbers as read from the resolutions and noted the caveat that assessed values could change and increase the city’s exposure. As she reported: Tamarix (resolution referenced as “56” in the transcript) is “about $43,000”; Resolution 57, Pebble, is “28,534”; another item listed as Mountain View included figures that were unclear in the transcript; Cameo is “20,925”; Dorado is “32,338”; and Coral is “32,338.” Tavera prefaced the list by saying the liabilities were “based on current property tax and the assessed value approved. So if that assessed value goes up, that's gonna increase.”
Councilman Bridal acknowledged the figures and had no further questions during the study session. The items were part of the consent agenda; no votes or formal council action on the consent items were recorded in the study-session portion of the transcript.
Because portions of the spoken amounts were unclear in the audio transcript, the article reports the figures as the director stated them and notes the transcript ambiguity where relevant. City staff would present the consent items and the resolutions on the formal council agenda for action.
