Neighbor urges caution on sale of 1-acre parcel near Josie and Golfing Green, citing density concerns
Summary
A nearby resident, Alicia Fisher, told the council she and neighbors were not properly informed about prior plans for a 1-acre parcel at Josie and Golfing Green and urged the city to ensure the sale avoids increased high-density housing that could affect safety and neighborhood character.

A Farmers Branch resident urged the City Council on March 18 to consider neighborhood impacts before finalizing the sale of a roughly 1-acre parcel at the corner of Josie and Golfing Green.
Alicia Fisher, who said she lives at 13517 Rawhide Parkway, told the council she lives directly across from the parcel and that a prior proposal in the surrounding area to add townhomes would increase density. "I do not agree with that, and I know several of my neighbors don't as well," Fisher said. She said residents in the immediate area were not notified of the original plans because they did not live within the 200-foot notice boundary for that application.
Fisher described the existing housing mix near the parcel as including 21 duplexes equating to 41 homes and said a new proposal for the surrounding site would add about 31 townhome units. "That are town homes and not just gonna create high density in a neighborhood that's already single family and multifamily and will create major issues with safety," she said, asking the council to "make sure you are making the best decision for the city and the citizens, most notably the neighbors within that area."
Fisher said she had spoken to the council previously about the matter and asked the council to review all options and ensure the city does its due diligence before proceeding with any sale or selection of a bidder. The council did not take formal action on the sale during the March 18 meeting; Fisher's remarks were made during the public-comment period.
The transcript does not identify the current bidder or the precise zoning for the 1-acre parcel beyond Fisher's statement that surrounding properties include duplex zoning and that the proposed townhomes would increase units by about 31; those details were described by Fisher as part of her public comment and not as a staff report.
