Members of the budget and finance committee told the commission they solicited four bids: Thompson Machine (quote around $148,000), Bransford (approximately $79,090), Taylor Electric (direct at about $67,000 but with a long lead time), and Capital Electric (around $84,000). The committee voted unanimously to recommend the Bransford quote because the Bransford/Kohler unit offered a substantially shorter lead time (about 10 weeks) versus 36–40 weeks for the Taylor option, and Bransford’s package included a five‑year warranty and a 24‑hour fuel tank. Committee members said the Bransford installation would be a complete install able to power the whole building.
The committee identified an $80,000 ARPA fund draw in the packet to help cover the purchase and installation; members said the county’s ARPA cash-on-hand would accommodate the draw without exhausting available funds. Committee representatives asked the full commission whether any items needed further review; none were requested at the work session.
No final procurement vote by the full commission occurred at the work session; the committee recommendation and budget amendment will appear on the commission’s regular meeting agenda for formal action.
