Duncanville ISD approves $32.54 million GMP for CTE building and Ninth Grade Center renovations

The Duncanville ISD Board of Trustees voted 6-0 to approve a guaranteed maximum price of $32,540,399 for construction of a new Career and Technical Education (CTE) building and renovations to Area M (the Ninth Grade Center) at Duncanville High School.
District staff presented the GMP and noted a correction to the board book that did not change the project total. The presentation included representatives identified as Mr. Kumar Hawk (L.A.N.) and Mr. John Fisher (Sidalco/Soudalco representation) in the audience for questions. The board was asked to approve the GMP and to provide Sidalco Construction with a notice to proceed; trustees approved the motion unanimously.
Staff said Area J work will be returned to the board at a later date with a separate GMP (anticipated in April). The district indicated the correction to the original packet was administrative and did not alter the awarded total.
Why this matters: The CTE building and Ninth Grade Center renovations represent a major capital investment in the high school campus and were funded through the district’s approved construction program. The board approved the GMP and authorized notice to proceed with the chosen construction manager at risk.
