DuPage County IT highlights ransomware workshop, schedules Gov.AI demonstration for municipalities

County IT said several municipalities, county agencies and department staff participated in the exercise to strengthen preparedness and incident response.
IT staff also announced an online Gov.AI demonstration set for Friday, March 21, at 10 a.m., led by Debbie Deasy and Shanita Thompson, who were identified in the meeting as co-chairs of the county AI task force. The session was described as a demonstration of a generative-AI tool designed specifically for government use, with examples of municipal use cases and discussion of best practices and precautions for responsible AI adoption in local government operations.
During the committee's opening remarks, staff congratulated the IT department, the Workforce Development Center (WDC), and Rhonda Bridal of the 18th Judicial Circuit Court for being named a Smart Cities Awards finalist for an item described in the meeting as the FBCC domestic-violence QR-code project. The meeting record shows the award outcome was pending at the time of the committee meeting.
The announcements were presented as informational remarks at the start of the Technology Committee meeting; no committee action was required. Staff said invitations and sign-up links for the March 21 Gov.AI session would be distributed to municipal participants.
