DuPage County technology committee approves multiple IT contracts; members hear briefing on backup capacity and records-retention work

DuPage County Technology Committee on March 18, 2025, approved a series of information-technology contracts and heard staff explain a short-term need to expand backup capacity while the county develops updated records-retention policies.

The committee approved a multiyear contract recommendation to continue an automated license-plate reader program with Flock Safety for the sheriff's office, a purchase order described in the meeting as not to exceed $777,602.74 for the period March 1, 2025, through Feb. 28, 2029. Committee members also approved a recommendation for procurement of 50 Westlaw/Westlaw Edge online accounts for legal research (the contract amount was stated in the meeting as "a total contract amount not to exceed a hundred $55,328" in the transcript), and several other routine IT purchases and renewals, including an annual web-governance contract with Siteimprove Inc. and an annual maintenance contract with Harris Govern.

The committee voted to amend an existing county contract with Inside Public Sector to add capacity for backup appliances and to increase software maintenance and support on the county's NetBackup software by $16,488.45, which the meeting materials and motion recorded as resulting in an amended contract total of $391,207.29. During discussion, an IT department representative said the county is running out of cloud backup space and that the increase is intended to add capacity while staff work on retention policies and categorization of records.
