Staff said they expect an E-rate discount of roughly 40 percent on the two fiber contracts, which would lower local costs.
The board was told the district plans to purchase six core network switches through ePlus at $152,475 to replace equipment last upgraded in 2015, plus uninterrupted power-supply units (UPS) for elementary schools, the middle school and the high school at $65,530.90. Staff said the UPS units support switches by preventing power spikes and supplying short-term backup until generators run.
Other items included a $22,670 internal/external security assessment and penetration testing with GDC IT, a Raptor visitor-management renewal for eight buildings (total $5,560) and a planned Dell laptop purchase to replace 10 teacher devices ($11,157.40). The district also listed software renewals, including a CUDA math software license ($1,480) and Wonder Workshop renewals for grades 14 ($15.70 reported in the briefing).
Staff said the district tracks device-replacement cycles and replaces teacher laptops as needed or when they fail. The technology items were presented as information and will appear on an upcoming voting agenda.
