In the absence of committee chair David Barrett, a facilities committee member reported that the committee met Feb. 20 and reviewed a TNM proposal to evaluate the condition of middle- and high-school pavement, including geotechnical drilling. The TNM quote presented to the board was $20,150.
East Whiteland Township presented a concept to extend pedestrian access by marking a walking path (painted lines rather than a raised sidewalk) along Conestoga Road near the high-school driveway. The township said the project is tied to grant funding and aims to connect neighborhood sidewalks to the school driveway.
Board members and staff raised operational questions the township must answer before the district can agree to changes on its rear drive: the width of the bus driveway (district staff said it only comfortably fits two buses side by side), the potential need to shave speed humps, how wheelchair access would be handled, whether pylons would create snow-removal problems, lighting and reflective treatments, and easement or other property-rights impacts.
The facilities committee said it will return questions to the township and requested more detailed plans showing the path width, lighting, and how bus operations would be preserved. The committee also noted it is reviewing facility rental fees with a potential July 1 effective date and said the facilities committee will next meet on April 24.
Board members suggested the district weigh trade-offs for safety and snow maintenance and confirmed the committee will look for a clearer plan and answers on easements before the board acts.
