The Crest Hill City Council approved three Public Works expenditures on routine motions Tuesday evening, covering equipment for the East Sewage Treatment Plant, emergency repairs to Well 12 and a construction pay request for the West Sewage Treatment Plant.
Public Works Director Julius Hansen presented the three items, saying, “Public Works has 3 approval items for 3 different, items we need to purchase. So I'll take 1 at a time here.” Council approved the purchase of two influent pumps, a transfer pump and a flow meter for the East STP in an amount not to exceed $175,000. The approval was made by motion, second and a roll-call vote; the clerk announced the motion carried.
The council next approved a change order to cover emergency repair work on the iron filter at Well 12, not to exceed $65,000. Hansen told the council the crews were on-site that day for the repairs. The motion passed by roll call.
Finally, the council approved pay request No. 26 for Visserine Construction for work on the West STP and directed staff to forward the invoice to the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency for approval and disbursement in the amount of $372,032.50. The motion passed on roll call.
Council members noted that all three items were discussed at the prior week's work session. No further amendments or conditions were added by council during Tuesday’s votes.
The approvals commit the city to the stated payments and to seeking IEPA disbursement for the construction pay request; no additional contingencies or schedule changes were specified during the meeting.
