Council approved a motion, requested by staff, to follow the Utilities Committee’s recommendations on village energy contracts: remain in NOPEC’s standard program for electric service and move the village’s natural gas accounts into NOPEC’s preferred-pricing program on a 24-month term.
Lucas, the village administrator, summarized the packet memo and the Utilities Committee recommendation, and warned that the village expects energy price increases beginning in June 2025. "In the near future, starting in June of 20 25, we are expecting energy increases of somewhere between 10–15%." Council moved and seconded the recommendation and recorded affirmative votes to authorize staff to sign paperwork to transfer electric service and enroll gas accounts in the preferred program.
The council’s action authorizes the administrator and staff to finalize vendor paperwork and enroll village accounts per the recommendation; no dollar amounts were presented in the meeting packet transcription.
