Highwood council approves single front wall sign for Funky Buddha Boba Lounge; routine minutes and warrants approved

Highwood City Council on March 18 approved an architectural review committee variation that reduced proposed signage for Funky Buddha Boba Lounge from two wall signs to a single front-facing sign, and also approved routine minutes and the meeting warrant list.
The variation was introduced under new business as “consideration [of] resolution approving ARC application for a variation for 2 wall signs at Funky Buddha Boba Lounge,” and the council voted to eliminate the side sign and permit a single front sign. The presiding officer moved to approve “for the front side and to eliminate the side side,” and the motion was seconded. During roll call, Alderman Levy, Alderman Fallberg, Alderman Peterson and Alderman Laspinarski registered affirmative votes; the motion was approved.
Council members also approved the city council minutes for March 4, 2025, and the committee-of-the-whole minutes as read. The warrant list dated March 18, 2025, was brought up and approved during the meeting.
The council reported no formal action coming out of its executive session. A community meeting about a development proposal was announced for 7 p.m. at Oak Terrace School; the announcement included a clarification that the event is not a city-run meeting.
The meeting proceeded through the listed items and was adjourned after new business and routine approvals.
