Council Member Lolli said the project had been in negotiations with Chick‑fil‑A for more than two years and was kept confidential at the company’s request. "Miss Combs and her team worked diligently behind the scenes to assure that this project would come to fruition," Lolli said, adding that the planning, zoning and code staff played an important role.
Mayor Slamka and other council members echoed appreciation for the city staff’s effort. In addition to the restaurant announcement, Council Member Lolli reported the city’s income tax receipts were $233,000 higher year‑to‑date through February 2025 compared with the same period in 2024. Lolli thanked Finance Director Samantha Zimmerman and the finance department for the increase.
Council also highlighted other local cultural and volunteer events, and urged residents to use city resources (websites provided during remarks) to sign up for volunteer activities and community events.
Ending Council framed the Chick‑fil‑A announcement as a sign of economic momentum and noted continued work by staff and the city’s economic development department to attract businesses to Middletown.
