Redevelopment Agency OKs $95,000 grant to pave temporary parking near the Strat

Dina Babsky, director of economic and urban development, said the parcel — described in the agenda as 120–130 West Cleveland Avenue — contained five former residential buildings that were demolished, leaving a vacant lot south of the Strat near the Aztec Hotel and Casino. Babsky said the property owners invested more than $150,000 to clear and prepare the land, making them eligible for a $95,000 reimbursement from the RDA special revenue fund.
Babsky said the temporary paved lot will offer roughly 120 spaces and will be managed by the city’s Parking Services division within Economic and Urban Development. She said the city has partnered with the Strat to lease some spaces for employees and potentially guests. Work was expected to begin in April and to be completed quickly, she said.
Will Heaton, a representative for the applicant, thanked the agency and said his principals could not attend for health reasons but appreciated the city’s partnership.
