Lee County commissioners unanimously approved the first of two public hearings to adopt amendments to the development agreement for the Kingston project that revise the timing for payment of sewer and water connection fees.
Michael Jackson of the County Attorney's Office presented the item and told the Board the proposed changes "will revise the timing for payment of sewer and water connection fees, and that's the extent of it." The hearing drew no public comment and the motion to adopt the amendment at first hearing passed unanimously.
Why it matters: development agreements control obligations and timing between developers and the county; a change to connection-fee timing can affect developer cash flow and the county's utility revenue timing. This action was the first of two required hearings; the Board will consider final adoption at the second public hearing.
Next steps: the Board will schedule the second public hearing required for final adoption and staff will circulate any revised agreement language in advance of that hearing.
