Service and Safety Director Martin told council that a sewer maintenance department pickup truck was totaled after an incident that rendered the airbags unrecoverable. The vehicle, a 13‑year‑old one‑ton with a dump bed used in daily sewer operations, received an insurance payout of about $27,000.
Martin said the replacement cost for a one‑ton with a dump feature is approximately $71,000, leaving an estimated gap of roughly $44,000 to fully replace the vehicle. He said the vehicle was not in the adopted capital plan because the insurance outcome was uncertain at the time the plan was developed.
Council filed the director's add‑on letter and asked questions about capital priority and rotation; no appropriation vote was held during the meeting. The administration added two ordinances as add‑ons (Ordinances 20‑25‑33 and 20‑25‑34) related to the vehicle replacement and the Western–Sandusky project; Ordinance 20‑25‑33 appeared on the agenda for a first reading and will return for further action.
