Revere schools report $42,556 teacher-diversification award, library and civics grants

Dr. Kelly told the committee that the district received a $4,000 grant for the Revere High School library to expand online library resources. "The first is the, RHS library grant for, dollars 4,000," Kelly said, adding the award will provide students and staff with additional online research resources. Kelly credited Mia Morgan, the high-school librarian, for securing the grant.
Dr. Kelly said CityLab received an endowment of $1,500 after a site visit from the Learning Agenda; the committee was asked to approve the $1,500 endowment. "That was the second notice that she got was that it was actually 1,500," Kelly said when clarifying the amount.
The district also notified the committee that each of the three middle schools received a Democratic Knowledge Project implementation grant worth $24,000 apiece to support civics action projects already underway.
Kelly said the teacher diversification grant was awarded again this year, providing $42,556 for school culture and support initiatives. When asked whether the diversification funds pay salaries, the administration clarified that this grant award is for school culture and support rather than direct salary payments. Kelly thanked Dr. Garcia and Jamie Flynn for their work on the diversification-grant application.
Committee members had no further questions on the grants. No formal vote on acceptance of the listed grants was recorded in the Committee of the Whole minutes shown in the transcript except for committee approval requested for the CityLab $1,500 endowment; the transcript records the request but not the committee’s roll-call vote on that item.
