Citi Fields director thanks commission for affordable-housing support; schools director endorses growth-plan concessions

David Goodwill, director at Citi Fields, spoke during the public-comment period to thank the commission for financial support of Citi Fields' neighborhood work. "This investment that you have made with our efforts will demand our very best," Goodwill said, adding that affordable housing the organization builds "puts families in a safe place where they can raise their children and become productive citizens." He told commissioners the organization will provide future updates on how county funds are used.

Later in the public-comment segment, Linda Cash, director of Bradley County Schools and a member of the growth-plan coordinating committee, said she supported the committee's work and that committee deliberations produced concessions responsive to county concerns. "I think that they brought in the boundaries, enough to allow for growth, but not to not to overextend," Cash said. She urged county leaders to pursue an interlocal agreement specifically addressing fire service: "I think that would be a very positive step for us to request," she said.

Ending: Commissioners thanked Citi Fields for its neighborhood work and noted that the commission intended to continue working with community partners and other local governments on the growth-boundary and service agreements.
