Votes at a glance: Board accepts minutes, approves Leland Drive variances, reduces tobacco suspension to one day

At its Feb. 11 meeting the Town of Charlton Board of Health (1) accepted prior meeting minutes for Jan. 7, 2025; (2) approved local upgrade variances for septic work affecting 33, 35 and 37 Leland Drive; and (3) voted to reduce a three-day suspension for a tobacco-sales violation to a one-day suspension (owner may choose March 3 or March 10).
The Town of Charlton Board of Health recorded three formal outcomes at its Feb. 11 meeting.
Accepted minutes: The board voted to accept the minutes of the Jan. 7, 2025 meeting. The motion was seconded and approved by voice vote with "Aye" responses.
Leland Drive variances: The board approved plans presented by McClure Engineering to allow three local upgrade variances for properties at 33, 35 and 37 Leland Drive. Tobacco-seller suspension reduced: The board voted to reduce a three-day suspension of tobacco sales assessed after a compliance sting to a one-day suspension; the owner may select March 3 or March 10 to serve the suspension. The board noted it could not reduce the mandatory $1,000 fine because the governor’s directive or state enforcement practice sets that penalty amount. The motion to reduce the suspension to one day carried by unanimous voice vote.
All three actions were taken by voice vote; no roll-call tallies were recorded in the meeting transcript.
