Votes at a glance: agenda, minutes, and small expenditures approved; special-project bids taken under advisement

The Stark County Parks Board recorded votes on routine business and small expenditures and set next steps for the livestock-building procurement.

The board approved the meeting agenda (with the addition of the weed-spraying conversation) by voice vote.

The board approved minutes from the Jan. 7, 2025, meeting by motion and voice vote.

Bills approved at the meeting (as presented by staff): - County parks general fund: $1,413.40. Staff said the items included office products, monthly pest control from JAM Pest Control, and replacement livestock panels (JP Steel and Supply) to address repeated crushing/damage at the fairgrounds livestock pens. The board moved and approved this payment by roll call (recorded ayes: Paul, Dean, Ernie, Neil, Chair, Jason, Corey; outcome: approved). - Special project fund: $2,514.63. Staff described reimbursements for printed plan sets and a Lakeview Park railing installed by the road department; the board moved and approved the special project fund total by roll call (recorded ayes: Paul, Dean, Bernie, Neil, Courtney, Jason, Corey; outcome: approved).

The board also voted to authorize staff to allocate training funds for pesticide-certification fees (see separate article). The board voted by voice and recorded multiple ayes; staff will proceed if the employee agrees to test and register.

Finally, after opening three sealed construction bids for the livestock building (see article on bids), the board voted to take the bids under advisement and to call a special meeting when the contracted code review is available; that motion passed by voice vote.
