Steele County commission clears routine business; Brandon Oxton named 2025 chair

The Steele County Commission completed routine organizational and administrative business at its Jan. 7 meeting, approving its amended agenda, correcting minutes, setting the mileage reimbursement rate, approving the bills and selecting a 2025 chair.

The commission moved the approval of the agenda to the start of the meeting, accepted one correction to the special-meeting minutes (clarifying that Lakeview Catering’s liquor license, rather than a general approval of the vendor, had been approved), and approved both special and regular meeting minutes from December following a motion and second.

Commissioners nominated and approved Brandon Oxton as commission chair for 2025 by voice vote. The commission also approved a mileage reimbursement change (the record reflected an updated mileage rate), and approved payment of the county’s bills on a motion by Commissioner Richard, seconded by Commissioner Perry.
