Council backs Wyoming Water Development level-2 study to investigate wells and leaks

The Riverton City Council adopted Resolution 15-18 on March 4 to support the city’s application for a Level-2 study through the Wyoming Water Development Commission (WWDC).
Public Works staff said the city’s Level-1 water study, completed in late 2024, identified gaps in data about Riverton’s well fields and the need for a higher-resolution leak-detection assessment. A Level-2 study would investigate the feasibility and methods (including newer remote and field-based leak-detection technologies) and help produce data for future project planning. The WWDC requires a $3,000 filing fee for an application; the city would receive study work funded largely by WWDC if selected (staff noted reimbursement and grant mechanics).
Council voted to adopt the resolution supporting the application. Staff said if the application is successful, WWDC will fund the consultant work and the city will follow WWDC reimbursement procedures.
