Select Board renews New England Dragway permit with conditions and police oversight

The Select Board voted to certify and renew the New England Dragway—s operating permit for the 2025 season, imposing conditions including adequate police supervision and an 11 p.m. curfew for racing.
Lydia Perry, representing New England Dragway, told the board she and staff had met with police and addressed prior communication issues. The permit as read by the board says the dragway may operate from April 1, 2025 to February 2026 for a fee of $100, in accordance with Article 9 of Brentwood—s warrant (1968). The permit is restricted to drag racing and to the attached approved 2025 racing schedule.
Conditions included a requirement that all night racing be completed by 11 p.m.; racing in progress at that time shall be terminated and a $500 fine will be assessed for violations. In the event of an emergency the Brentwood chief of police is authorized to permit racing to continue for up to one additional hour.
On a roll-call vote the board approved the permit; one member abstained and said the abstention was due to that member—s potential involvement taking shifts at the venue.
