Tammy Baer and a colleague identified as Susan briefed the commissioners on a $5,600 increase to the Senior Health and Insurance Information Program (SHIP) grant. Baer said SHIP has been administered by the county for 25 years and the funds will pay for shred events at county senior events, World Elder Abuse Day in June, a fall scam awareness event and an Expo event next year.
Nut graf: The county requested a budget amendment to accept the additional $5,600. According to staff, the grant covers these services at 100% and requires no county match.
Baer said the program learned of the exact award amount only recently and that the $5,600 represents additional support over what was budgeted; staff requested the board authorize the budget adjustment so the activities can proceed.
Ending: No board vote was recorded in the work session transcript on this item; staff said they requested the budget amendment for routine acceptance of the grant funds.
