Mike McGuire, director of the Cape Cod Cooperative Extension, and Misty Niemeyer, director of the county AmeriCorps program, briefed the Assembly of Delegates standing committee on public services on March 17 about their FY budgets and program funding.
The committee voted unanimously to recommend the Cooperative Extension and AmeriCorps budgets to the finance committee.
McGuire described the Cooperative Extension budget as largely “vanilla” year-to-year, with limited new projects. The department requested funding for wildfire preparedness planning that would match available state funds and included a $100,000 federal grant application to support that work.
