The Westonka Public School District board unanimously approved a slate of procurement and personnel items at its March regular meeting, including construction contract awards, staffing changes and network upgrades.
The board approved acceptance of the bid and contract awards for ISD 277 Grandview Middle School security improvements and deferred maintenance and for ISD 277 Mount Westonka High School addition and renovations (Part 3). The board also approved adding a Kitchen Assistant I position at Shirley Hills Primary School and a Kitchen Assistant I position at Grandview Middle School; approved items to be sold at an online auction; approved position eliminations, reductions and additions for the 2026 school year; and approved replacing district network switches and wireless equipment.
All action items were introduced by the chair and carried on voice votes after a call for seconds. For each approval the chair asked, “All in favor?” and members responded “Aye,” after which the chair announced the motion carried. The board set a finance committee meeting for April 3 to continue budget review ahead of the district’s adopted budget presentation scheduled for June.
Procurement approvals advance two major facilities projects: the Grandview Middle School security and deferred-maintenance work and the high school addition and renovation (Part 3). The approved personnel changes include the two Kitchen Assistant I positions and a slate of smaller FTE adjustments tied to enrollment and course registration patterns for 2026. The district also authorized sale of surplus items via online auction and approved replacement of network switches to support facility renovation and modernize capacity.
The voice vote approvals leave implementation details to administration; several items (construction contracts, technology procurement and staffing changes) will be completed by staff consistent with bid documents and contract terms. The board adjourned after the votes.
