The Macedonia Planning Commission on March 17 gave preliminary approval to a proposed 238,000‑square‑foot manufacturing building for Peak Nano at 885 Valley View Road, contingent on completion of standard engineering and permit submittals.
Applicant representative Trevor Hickson described the manufacturing process (plastic pellets melted and drawn into films used in capacitors and similar components) and said the company is purchasing new production equipment with European suppliers, requiring a timely building schedule. Planning staff noted the proposal includes rail spurs, a potential future expansion area and a conceptual stormwater location; staff asked the applicant to supply a topographic survey, final photometric and lighting plans, a clear off‑street parking calculation or an approved variance for parking reductions, building mechanical screening details, and complete stormwater engineering for the final plan.
Staff and the commission noted the site sits partially in an adjacent township; the applicant said property lines and permitting would be resolved so the development is handled entirely by Macedonia permits where possible. Commissioners welcomed job creation and property redevelopment, and asked the applicant to work with city engineers and public safety on access, truck turning analysis and any curb cut variances. The commission moved preliminary approval with the condition that staff comments be addressed before the final submission.
