Resident thanks Owosso council for fire suppression grant and downtown loan support

Corey Shook, of 5015 Colby Road, thanked the Owosso City Council and staff for approval of a fire suppression grant and for reviving the revolving loan fund that supports downtown building projects.
"I just wanna thank the council for approval of our fire suppression grant," Shook said, naming city staff Lizzie Frederick and Nathan Henney and referring to the DDA and the economic vitality committee members who helped facilitate the program. He said he believes he will be the first applicant to use the program and that scheduling for the fire-suppression work on two Riverside project apartments is expected "within the next 60 days."
Shook said the reopening of the grant and loan program was important to downtown building activity and thanked staff for assistance through the application process.
Council members acknowledged the comment; no formal action resulted from the public comment.
