The Green River City Council voted to authorize staff to submit a request to transfer a Wyoming Wildlife and Natural Resources Trust (WNRT) grant to the City of Green River so the city can administer funds for the Killdeer Wetlands project.
Chris (staff presenter) told the council the Killdeer Wetlands project has multiple partners, including the Greenbelt Task Force, and moving the grant to the city would reduce administrative complexity from multiple subgrantee arrangements. "Instead of getting into a bunch of sub grantee awards and other things, the grant wants to continue with the project... we're gonna ask that we submit for that grant on their behalf and have that grant transferred to us to continue with those funds," he said.
Councilman Shutford moved the request and it was seconded; the motion carried on a voice vote. Council members characterized the action as administrative cleanup to make future grant administration smoother; the Greenbelt Task Force and WNRT were said to be agreeable to the change.
What the action does: the council authorized the city to request WNRT transfer to reduce future administrative overhead and centralize grant management; no change to project scope or partners was stated.
Next steps: staff will prepare and submit the transfer request to WNRT and continue coordinating with project partners.
