The Kentwood City Commission on March 4 confirmed appointments to the Zoning Board of Appeals and the Election Commission and approved a clarification to previously drafted Committee of the Whole minutes concerning an installment-loan penalty waiver.
The commission approved two appointments (one for the Zoning Board of Appeals as an alternate and one for the Election Commission); names were moved and seconded by commissioners and approved by voice vote. Staff noted there remain additional openings and expressed interest in appointing three commissioners to assist with interviews to expand vetting.
Separately, commissioners approved a modification to the Committee of the Whole minutes clarifying the motion to waive interest and penalties related to an installment loan “once the full principal balance is paid in full.” The minutes were amended to avoid ambiguity about when penalties would be waived; the revised consent agenda containing that amended minutes package was then approved by roll call.
The commission did not provide names for the appointees in the public transcript; staff said one appointee, Craig, had been vetted previously but the record does not include full identifying details for either appointee.
