Votes at a glance: Wausau Plan Commission approves landmarks, site plans and minutes

The Wausau Plan Commission on Tuesday approved a slate of routine and land-use items by voice vote, including approval of prior meeting minutes, two historic landmark designations and final approval of two specific implementation plans (SIPs).

Minutes: The commission approved the meeting minutes from Jan. 21, 2025 on a motion from Borneman and a second from Bergeman.

Landmarks: The commission approved landmark designation for the Little Red Schoolhouse in Marathon Park after the Historic Preservation Commission recommended the designation 8–0 and Park and Rec committee support was noted. The commission also approved landmark designation for Saint John’s Episcopal Church at 330 McClellan; Father Sam Cripps of Saint John’s addressed the commission in support and provided historic context.

Specific implementation plans: The commission approved the final specific implementation plan for the former Pied Piper/Bridge Street Mission building at 315–325 North First Street, noting the current and future phased exterior and site changes; the motion was moved by Borneman and seconded by Brueggemann. The commission also approved a specific implementation plan for Bow Falls Brewery at 905 East Thomas Street; the motion was moved and seconded on the record and approved by voice vote.
