DIAB new-construction subcommittee gathers 17 accessibility questions, will seek responses from PGCPS divisions

At the March 18 Disability Issues Advisory Board meeting, the subcommittee on new school construction and accessibility reported that it had collected about 17 questions related to building accessibility and will seek responses from multiple PGCPS divisions.
Tranel Bowman, recognized as the subcommittee representative, said some members were unable to attend a scheduled meeting and the group will reschedule. Bowman told DIAB she had gathered roughly 17 questions in a shared Google document and that several questions require responses from departments beyond Special Education, including building services, support programs and student services. "So I'll be working with those different divisions and offices to respond, in preparation for our next committee meeting," Bowman said.
Bowman said she will bring compiled responses back to the full DIAB. The subcommittee did not take formal action at the March 18 meeting and will set a new meeting date by email. Bowman and others noted resources like the district’s specialist staffing plan are publicly available and can be shared with the subcommittee.
The subcommittee’s work is framed as preparatory: identifying technical and policy questions that will require department-level detail before DIAB could make formal recommendations about accessibility in new school construction.
