The Office of the Auditor General told the Audit Committee March 17 that it completed a performance audit of student disciplinary processes covering the 2024 school year, with comparative data from 2023. Monia Shahab, who presented the item, said the nature of the audit is confidential and the detailed report will be shared in closed session under the Freedom of Information Act exemption for student‑discipline records.
The audit’s stated objectives were to assess compliance with applicable FCPS regulations and guidelines, evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls in student discipline, and benchmark practices against comparable educational institutions. Shahab said because of confidentiality and FOIA exemptions the detailed findings and supporting data will not be made public and will instead be discussed with the committee in closed session.
