The board approved the Moats contract by roll call: Mrs. Will — yes; Mrs. Powers — yes; Mr. Wilson — yes; Mrs. Chestnut — yes; Mrs. Mason — yes.
Why it matters: District officials told trustees that rental fees collected over the years have been saved for this purpose and will cover most of the replacement cost; staff emphasized the work is funded from those rental revenues, not the district general fund. The current turf had passed safety testing but staff said replacing aging turf reduces the risk of future field-safety issues and supports summer camps and athletic events.
An optional graphics upgrade — a non‑sewn printing process vendor calls “game on” — was presented as an aesthetic enhancement. School boosters have agreed to pay for the upgrade; staff said it could slightly alter installation timing but would not be charged to the general fund. Staff plan to work with boosters on the final design, keeping in mind multiple sports lines (football, boys and girls lacrosse, soccer) already marked on the field.
Installation timing: Staff said they expect work to be scheduled to avoid main summer camps and that the project team is aiming for work to be completed in time for preseason activities; no exact installation dates were announced in the meeting.
